Farmers Market Nutrition Coupon Program (FMNCP)
In 2022, we distributed over $26,000 in food funding in our first full year of operating the FMNCP.
Updates regarding 2023 won’t be available until after February. Stay tuned!
To learn about the program: click here.
The Cedar FMNCP provides funding to low-income families, seniors, and pregnant people to purchase fresh local produce, meat, seafood, and other fresh groceries. In 2022, we will have extra funding for seniors!
Average funding is $27/week and can be saved for a few weeks for a bigger shop. If you have any questions, please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org
If accepted to the program, participants must engage in a nutrition education component. We will have recipe sharing on a private Facebook group as well as two chef demonstrations at the market, which are billed as “Community Cookouts”. These are tentatively scheduled for July 24th and September 4th. You don’t have to join us for both and they are designed to be fun! Thanks to funding from the Regional District of Nanaimo we will have a chef on-site cooking up seasonal veggies for everyone to sample and recipe cards to take home with you. If you can’t make it to the “Cookouts” we will come up with alternatives for you.
UPDATE June 8: Due to an abundance of applications we are now moving to a wait-list Application.
