Applications

2024 Applications opened on February 7th and were processed the week of March 26th.

Applications are currently being accepted on a wait list and may or may not be processed during the summer. New applications may not be processed, may only be processed for food/farm vendors, or will be processed as needed and when time permits.

Hatch + Hype (food & farm) applications will be processed all season long.

We are full in the following categories: pottery, food trucks, dog treats, flowers, and resin product makers. We cannot sell alcohol or cannabis-based products.

The application can also be used by musicians who wish to fill in for cancellations. 2025 applications will open in January or February of 2025.

Pricing

Vendors applying for and also being approved for seasonal packages receive two benefits: reduced pricing and reserved stall space. The Market Manager will do their best to find the vendor a suitable location within the market, but cannot guarantee that all requests can be fulfilled.

Drop-in vendors are typically booked the week of the market and stall allocations and the number of spaces available is subject to change each week.

Applications: https://cedarfm.mymarket.org/forms/signup

August 10, 2022: We are still accepting drop-in vendors for occasional market dates.

Farmers Market Nutrition Coupon Program (FMNCP)
- 2023 Program Closed -

In 2022, we distributed over $26,000 in food funding in our first full year of operating the FMNCP.

Applications open Friday, April 21st. Priority will be given to Cedar-area lower-income families, pregnant people, and seniors. Approved participants will receive $27/week in coupons (gift certificates) to spend on fresh groceries including veggies, meat, seafood, and dairy (cheese). The program runs for 16 weeks giving each participant a total of $432 in fresh local food of their choosing.

About the Program

https://bcfarmersmarket.org/coupon-program/how-it-works/

“The Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupon Program (FMNCP) is a healthy eating initiative that supports farmers’ markets and strengthens food security across British Columbia. Community partner organizations provide coupons to lower-income families, pregnant people and seniors participating in their food literacy programs. Coupons can be spent at all BCAFM member farmers’ markets that participate in the FMNCP, and can be used to purchase vegetables, fruits, nuts, eggs, dairy, herbs, vegetable & fruit plants, honey, meat and fish.”

Cedar Nutrition Coupon Program

The Cedar FMNCP provides funding to low-income families, seniors, and pregnant people to purchase fresh local produce, meat, seafood, and other fresh groceries. In 2022, we will have extra funding for seniors!

Average funding is $27/week and can be saved for a few weeks for a bigger shop. If you have any questions, please reach out to nutrition@cedarfarmersmarket.org

If accepted to the program, participants must engage in a nutrition education component. We will have recipe sharing on a private Facebook group as well as two chef demonstrations at the market, which are billed as “Community Cookouts”. These are tentatively scheduled for July 24th and September 4th. You don’t have to join us for both and they are designed to be fun! Thanks to funding from the Regional District of Nanaimo we will have a chef on-site cooking up seasonal veggies for everyone to sample and recipe cards to take home with you. If you can’t make it to the “Cookouts” we will come up with alternatives for you.

UPDATE June 8: Due to an abundance of applications we are now moving to a wait-list Application.
