Royal Conservatory trained on piano, and having picked up a guitar in her mid-teens, Beverley McKeen began writing lyrics for music after poetry ignited her muse. Influences include operatic musicals in her family home, The Beatles, and the pop-wave of the British Isles, Crosby Stills Nash and Neil Young, The Dillards, Emmylou/Gram, Marshall Tucker. McKeen is a writer who appeals to all. She writes mature contemporary music primarily and as well for children, themes for all occasions and most recently, the closing credits songwriter for an upcoming movie release, The Diary. Beverley has also used her talents for the greater good, composing songs about real life issues that affect us all, like clean, safe drinking water, for example.
Never sticking to one genre, Beverley McKeen is a songwriter for all listeners as she weaves a story through pop, rock, folk, blues, jazz and country styles, depending on the way it arrives! McKeens music is profoundly catchy, stuck in your mind, wake up in the morning with her song in your head – that good!
She recorded her third CD with Producer Martyn Jones, Mixing Engineer Zak Cohen of The Woodshop Recording Studios and brilliant Canadian musicians of the highest regard. ‘Auracles’ was mastered at Euphonics with Brad Blackwood.
